It’s that time again!! The DGS sale is right around the corner and true to form – tribal council has been busy busy!!

Camp will be taking on a new direction and focus for 2017 and beyond.

We’re going smaller in 2017

As mentioned in previous FB group posts – We are going to intentionally reduce the size of camp this year and make some changes to our offerings. We are reducing the size of our camp to simplify and to work on internal camp logistics and camp culture.

The decision to reduce camp size wasn’t easy but we feel it is necessary for our camp’s longterm success.

We will plan to cap camp at 50 with a limit of 20% virgins (40 vets 10 virgins). As such not everyone who applies will be admitted to camp.

Our Offerings in 2017

In 2017 we will be focusing on our HEXtent as our core offering. Essentially, we have a wonderful space that we spent a grip of money on. At a very basic level – we’re simply going to HOLD SPACE. We’ll hold space for our campers. We’ll hold space for our friends. We’ll hold space for our neighbors who would like to use our HEXtent for their workshops, talks, art, and other offerings.

We realize not everyone hosts workshops or gives talks but still has their own magic to share and inspire. Some may prefer art or song or dance. We didn’t want to restrict the definition of our offerings and as a result we have segmented our offerings into the following 4 categories:

  • 1. HEXevents (events)
  • 2. HEXtalks (talks)
  • 3. HEXshops (workshops)
  • 4. HEXart (art)

We may have a party or two but mostly, we want to focus on our workshops/talks/art/events as we’ve had solid traction the last 2 years in this area.

We will also be inviting our neighbors and burner friends to utilize our lavish space. Ideally, we’ll have quality workshops/events/talks/art being held 8 hours a day Monday – Friday of the burn.

Those of you who participate this year are not required to attend every workshop that is hosted. Part of this plan is to reduce the amount of time people have to commit to camp outside of leadership and their individual offering.

If you want to stay and support your campmates and neighbors by all means, but it is not required.

We hope this move will free us all up quite a bit and allow for us to enjoy more of the burn together as a family than we have in previous years.

This move will also allow us to provide max value for the citizens of BRC.

Your Contribution

We also want to be clear that everyone who joins us this year will be required to strike and everyone will be required to contribute something individually over and above their leadership/team duties.

This contribution will be either through a workshop/event/talk that you plan/host – or art that you create that’s in line with the new theme.

You can even help someone with their offering if you’re not comfortable leading your own workshop/talk/event.
Ideally however, and given our amazing crew, everyone will lead a workshop or create some amazing art this year.
Bottom line, we want everyone contributing in their own unique way over and above the typical responsibilities of running camp.

We ask that you bring your fresh ideas and help us make camp even better than years past. We want to make camp very contributory and we want to empower people to bring their own magic to camp.


We ask that everyone stay through Monday this year at the earliest. We don’t want people bailing on Thur, Fri, Sat. or even Sunday night. It causes an imbalance and it impacts camp in a negative way. Most camps don’t allow early departures for this reason.

That said, we realize some people have to leave early for work/family/etc. If that’s the case, we ask that you try and adjust your schedule and show up later (missing build) and stay through Monday for strike. We always have plenty of folks for build but people seem to conveniently bail for strike. Not this year.

If you 100% absolutely can only come for build and have to leave early let us know on your application. We will review on a case by case basis. We’re reasonable but we ask that you try as hard as you can to stay through Monday to help break down camp.

How to Apply

Please visit the new website ( and scroll down to the bottom of the homepage. You’ll see a very short application. We ask that you take time with describing your contribution as a HEXcouncil member will be reaching out to you to follow up. Please don’t rush through this. When you’re listing your contributions please don’t list ‘hugs’ or ‘massage.’ We are really looking for more here. Think on a much larger scale; if hugging is your gift – make it a workshop or similar. If massage is your gift – make hours available or teach others your craft. Think about how you can leverage your magic stardust to impact the largest number of people. <3

If you want to serve on leadership or be a part of camp in 2017 we encourage you to complete the application.

DGS Tickets

The DGS ticket sale begins on March 1st. As such we have limited time to get our core leadership established. Enrollment for tickets begins on February 14th and goes through February 24th.

By serving in leadership you’ll have an opportunity to secure a DGS ticket. At this time however, we do not know how many DGS tickets we’ll be awarded so not everyone who applies for leadership may be awarded a DGS ticket.

If you want to serve in Leadership and take a larger role in camp this year – you must submit your camp application no later than Monday, February 13th at 11:59pm PST.

Camp Dues

We’re still working on an exact number this year but you can expect camp dues to be ~$300 per person. This may change +/- $50. We’ll advise everyone as soon as we have it sorted.

DGS ticket holders will be required to pay a nonrefundable $100 deposit to be added to the DGS list. Once you have been notified you’ll need to submit your deposit to get on the DGS list .The due date for this is February 21, 2017 at 12pm PST.

 Time to Rally!

We are super excited to be going smaller and more intimate this year. We’ listened and this is what everyone wants. Hopefully, it’ll be our best year yet!

Also, we have a recompression party in the works for early May.
